Casa Banana is a 10-room surf house in Weligama, Sri Lanka, one minute from Fisherman’s Point. Private sea-view rooms, a shared kitchen and rooftop, run by Ludo and Monica, with two dogs and two cats.
You came for the waves. You’ll stay for the people.

Most places make you choose: a dorm bed, or a private room and dinner alone. We think you should get both.
Upstairs, your own room with a sea view and sunrise from bed. Downstairs, a big kitchen, six tables and a huge couch, where housemates end up sharing dinner and plans for tomorrow. There’s usually a plan. In or out, as you like.

Ludo. From Italy. Surfs, knows the breaks, and remembers your name by day two. Monica. From Spain. Usually the one with a dinner plan.
Taniya. Runs the house by day. The person everyone asks for anything. Suresh. Looks after the house at night. Late arrivals, late questions, a calm hand.
Kottu and Roti. Named after the street dish. First to say good morning in the kitchen, and still very naughty. Rocco and Chooty. The cats. They’ll be around when they are hungry.

Die Zimmer sind geräumig, geschmackvoll eingerichtet und vor allem sehr sauber. Der Blick vom Balkon ist traumhaft und man hat alles was man braucht! Das Team war mehr als freundlich und zuvorkommend. (Die beiden Hunde Kottu und Rotti und die süßen Katzen waren noch ein extra Bonus!!!) Das Haus hat unten noch eine super nette Community area in der man vor checkin und nach check out immer noch bleiben kann. Und wo man auch sein Gepäck in einem abgeschlossenen Raum aufbewahren kann. Zudem gibt es einen kostenlosen Trinkwasser Spender was nicht Selbstverständlich ist, aber ein riesen Vorteil! (Es gibt auch kostenloses W-LAN) Man kann außerdem surfboards leihen :) Das einzige was für uns nicht ganz optimal war war die Lage. Man braucht ca. 20-30 Minuten zu Fuß oder 5 TukTuk Minuten ins Zentrum von Weligama wo die ganzen Restaurants/ Cafés/ Strände und Surfschulen sind. An amazing stay at casa banana. The accomodation is both comfortable and beautiful and all of the staff are so friendly and helpful. The shower is incredible and we really appreciated the daily room turn downs service/cleaning. We loved waking up and looking out at the ocean and ended up extending our stay. Superbe séjour chez Casa Bana Il y a une ambiance très détendue au sein de l’établissement, on peut y faire sa petite vie tranquillement notamment grâce au frigo qui est mis à disposition de tout les résidents ! Il y a un service de lessive également qui est très utile et surtout très rapide (réception des vêtements le lendemain du dépôt) Et évidemment, il y a une vue magnifique sur la mer depuis la chambre ! I came from Italy to Weligama for two weeks, and Casa Banana was the place that hosted us. As soon as we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the staff, who were absolutely amazing: always available for a chat, happy to give us advice on places to visit and activities to do, and even helpful with all the information we needed to get around the city. They were truly fantastic! The room we were given was spotless, spacious, very bright, and equipped with air conditioning. The bathroom was equally immaculate. On the ground floor, there is a common area with a sofa, several tables, and a kitchen, where you can eat, relax, and meet other guests. The vibes are simply fantastic. The owner, Ludo, is a very kind and friendly person, always happy to recommend great places to eat and make sure we felt welcome and comfortable. We stayed here for 3 nights. The owner as well as the manager and night guard are all very helpful. They also recommended good places for us to visit nearby. Service was top notch - very friendly people. Only thing to take care was that it is on a slope inside a small lane, you need to climb up with bags etc which can be a bit difficult. Very close to Weligama beach, good location. We even spotted a pretty peacock while we were there. They also have a gully equipped kitchen. They also have 2 dogs which were initially scary but then we started enjoying their company!
